Historic Preservation and Restoration
Our historic restoration projects include The Lightner Museum/Historic Alcazar Hotel, The Hotel Casa Monica and many private residences within St. Augustine’s historic districts. Many of our projects are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, includindg two residences, the Casa Horruytiner-Bessey on historic St. George Street in St. Augustine and the Sanchez Homestead located in rural St. Johns County. Our passion to restore historic buildings also includes working on homes and buildings that are less recognizable due to their location or their condition, but we consider it an honor to have worked on some of the most recognizable and historically significant buildings in St. Augustine. We specialize in the preservation of all existing historic features and favor preservation over replacement and/or reproductions. When preservation is no longer an option, we can reproduce any element with exacting detail of workmanship and materials. We also reuse historic architectural elements throughout our construction process. Windows, doors and trim work are maticulously reworked and reused, and building components that are no longer viable in their original location are reinvented into trim work or furniture.
